One Way supports business growth with strategic moves

Date: 18/11/2019

It’s a time of change here at One Way as our business growth plans prompt strategic moves across the company. There’s no doubt that the industries we operate in are constantly changing. In rail, for example, the announcement of £10billion of investment in network enhancements across 58 separate projects for the next five years means demand for the specialist professionals we engage with is going to significantly increase across the UK.

So, what’s changing at One Way?

A Southampton Super Office

As part of One Way’s business growth plans, we’ve taken the decision to develop a ‘Southampton Super Office’. It really is true that less is more in some instances. As our company has grown since it was first set up by Paul and Duncan, we’ve opened a number of satellite offices to support our divisions, particularly the construction team.
However, as our candidates continue to move across regions and the businesses we partner with seek talent from multiple destinations, having one centralised location and a single place of contact made complete strategic sense. For this reason, we have consolidated our construction satellite offices, bringing our experts together under one roof. By doing this, our candidates and clients will know exactly where to turn for their resourcing or job-hunting support.

Changes in Rail

Since our inception in 2005, our Rail team has gone from strength to strength and we have a track record of success. As investment in the UK’s transport network increases and planned improvements to rail are secured for the immediate future, our specialist contract and perm candidates are in high demand.

While the opportunities are national, there are set hubs of activity. The network enhancements mentioned above, for example, will see over 50 projects undertaken, with the first schemes to be implemented in London, Liverpool and Leeds.

With this news and our geographical knowledge of rail talent pools, we’ve made the strategic decision to shift our Rail team to a London location. This move will allow us to truly be at the heart of the nations rail network while also granting easier access to the rest of the UK, ensuring our team can deliver results for specific projects, multiple business and a range of job seekers, no matter where they are based in the country.

One Way’s business growth plans: what it means for you

You might be reading this blog wondering what impact this has on you. The answer, in truth, is very little. For our current and future candidates, you will now have access to a consolidated team with a wealth of contacts. This means that identifying the best opportunity for your next career move will be smoother and you will always have a contact available to assist with any queries you might have.

And for the employers we work with now and will partner with in the years to come, our streamlined service means we can support your hiring requirements across the UK. By bringing our fantastic and highly connected recruiters together, it will be easier for everyone to collaborate and find the best people for your job, whether the roles are based in London, Leeds, Southampton, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool or anywhere else across the UK.

Commenting on this strategic business move, our Managing Director, Paul Payne said:

“As a business we’re always looking at ways to improve our services and assessing what is, or perhaps isn’t, working. As the construction and rail industries note increasing periods of change, we need to adapt in line with the employers and candidates we work with. The decision to scale back our satellite offices and relocate our rail team was not taken lightly, but was a decision that the team here knows will help us continue to be a leading provider of recruitment services.”
